Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Love Lock at The Capital Wheel at National Harbor
Romantics Invited to Lock Up Their Love and Enjoy Sweet Treats at
The Capital Wheel at National Harbor
(National Harbor, MD – February 6, 2018) – The Capital Wheel at National Harbor is encouraging couples, families and BFFs to padlock their love this February in honor of Valentine’s Day with a new experience inspired by popular love lock bridges around the globe. An eight-foot tall replica wheel with heart shaped gondolas is being installed at The Capital Wheel along with a temporary wrought iron fence featuring ornate, romantic scrollwork. Starting February 5, visitors can purchase one of two Love is in the Air packages that include a love lock and the opportunity to experience one of the DMV’s best views, 180-feet in the air.
Guests participating in Love is in the Air will receive a padlock and permanent marker to commemorate their love by writing their initials, date or special expression on the lock. Locks can then be attached to either the replica wheel or fencing, and secured for safe-keeping. Even better, a portion of all proceeds from the Love is in the Air promotion will benefit Locks of Love.
Love is in the Air packages include:
Lock Up Your Love $35 + tax
1 Love Lock
2 Tickets to The Capital Wheel
Let There Be Love $50 + tax
1 Love Lock
2 Specialty Cocktails at The Walrus Oyster & Ale
12 Truffles or 3 Chocolate Covered Strawberries from Savannah’s Candy Kitchen
2 Tickets to The Capital Wheel
“From proposals and anniversary celebrations to baby gender reveals and even weddings, love is always in the air at National Harbor,” said Derek Lovato, The Capital Wheel’s general manager. “Adding love locks and other sweet treats to a cozy outing on The Capital Wheel gives romantics a fun Valentine’s Day alternative and an experience they will always remember. Plus, regardless of the temperature outside, it’s always 72-degrees inside our climate controlled gondolas.”
The Love is in the Air promotion will be available February 5 through 28. For those who don’t get to visit in February, the display will remain at The Capital Wheel until March 20, allowing guests to view the lovebird’s locks for a few more weeks.
Don’t have a significant other? No problem. Bring your BFF, toast your fun times with a glass of wine, and lock your friendship for safekeeping at The Capital Wheel.
A portion of all proceeds from Love is in the Air packages will be donated to Locks of Love, the not-for-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 with medical hair loss free of charge. Locks of Love relies on donated hair and financial support to underwrite the cost of turning donations into custom, vacuum fitted hairpieces for children.
Love is in the Air packages can be purchased online or at the Ticket Booth beginning February 5. Please visit The Capital Wheel Ticket Booth to pick up all package vouchers. Specialty cocktails may be selected from The Walrus Oyster and Ale SIPPS menu.
