MGM National Harbor has three participating restaurants in this year’s Restaurant Week and below is a guest blog from Executive Chef Johnston.
Chef Johnston brings over 30 years of culinary expertise to his role as Executive Chef. He most recently served as Executive Sous Chef at the luxurious Bellagio resort in Las Vegas, which features the AAA Five Diamond Award-winning French restaurant, Le Cirque.

Prior to joining MGM Resorts International, Chef Johnston has served as Executive Chef for renowned luxury hotels including Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, CA and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, A Thompson Hotel in Los Angeles, CA and Executive Sous Chef at The Pierre, An Iconic Taj Hotel in New York City.

Chef Johnston attended the New York Restaurant School and is originally from Warwick, NY. MGM National Harbor’s pizzeria, Zizi’s Pizza, will named after Chef Johnston’s grandmother.

MGM National Harbor is participating in National Harbor Restaurant Week from February 1 – February 8, 2020 with our three flagship restaurants; Ginger, Osteria Costa and Voltaggio Brothers Steak House. Don’t miss out! Join us at our luxury resort to enjoy a night filled with food, entertainment, gaming and fun before the weekend is over. After dinner take a stroll through the casino floor and take a spin on one of our slot machines or try your hand at a table game. Cap off the evening by stepping into one of our nightlife lounges on the casino floor – Blossom Cocktail Lounge or FELT Bar and Lounge. A visit to the National Harbor isn’t complete without a stop to see all we have to offer! To dine with us, reservations can be booked on the MGM National Harbor website.

At Ginger, guests can indulge in a culinary tour of Asia. The in-restaurant seating experience from Ginger provides a stellar view of our conservatory which is currently celebrating Lunar New Year’s “Year of the Rat.” Menu items include a variety of authentic dishes, priced at $38 per person for an appetizer, main course and dessert. Offerings include Steamed Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Hot and Sour Soup, Crispy Spice Beef, Homestyle Tofu Veggie, topped off with Mango Sticky Rice for dessert.

Voltaggio Brothers Steak House is a great choice on property for guests to enjoy a warm at-home family dinner ambiance. The restaurant week menu features a menu item each member of the family can enjoy – ranging from steak to chicken to salmon priced at $38 per person. To start the meal, guests can choose from a Caesar Salad, Fried Calamari or Our Wedge which is topped with gorgonzola snow, tomato jam, bacon and ranch dressing. Entrees include ½ Free Range Chicken, a choice of Flank or Hanger Steak or our specialty Cedar Plank Salmon. Supplements and additional dishes include but are not limited to Lobster Tail, King Crab Leg, and a Local Chicken Egg. For dessert and a dish to cure that sweet tooth, top off a quality meal with a Strawberry Semifreddo Pop!

Our third restaurant that will be participating in restaurant week is Osteria Costa with both brunch and dinner offerings for guests to enjoy the best of both worlds. Our signature Italian restaurant is designed to give guests a taste of the Amalfi Coast. Our brunch offer is priced at $20 for three courses, options include but are not limited to a Yogurt and Granola dish with Seasonal Fruit and Pistachios, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Blueberry Conserve and Whipped Cream and an Eggs and Carne dish – three eggs anyway and your choice of bacon or sausage.

The dinner menu has a price point of $38 for a three-course meal. For the first course there are options such as Meatballs and a Frito Misto. The second course gives guests a few options as well, but most notably includes the restaurant’s signature Chicken Parmigiana. For the third course, which is the finale and dessert there is a choice between Olive Oil Cake and Vanilla Panna Cotta with Fresh Berries.

We hope to see you soon!
