National Harbor from your home

E-Learning, Virtual Tours, and activity demos

Close your eyes and imagine you are in your favorite place.

Ahh, we knew you would end up sitting next to us on an Adirondack chair, watching the best sunset in the world, listening to the waves of the Potomac, hearing kids and families laugh as they stroll American Way, and smelling the fire wood oven at Redstone American Grill.

We miss those times. We miss seeing all of you. We will get through this together!

I know you are wanting to get out and explore, but we want to keep you safe so we are bringing National Harbor Activities to your home! In this blog we will talk about history, animals, art, cooking classes, pirates…and more! Did I mention it is all free to enjoy?!

Everyone loves The Capital Wheel. You get to see the best views of the DMV while soaring high in the air in a climate controlled gondola, what’s not to love. Our team at The Capital Wheel prides themselves in entertaining their guests and did not disappoint us during this quarantine. They have a Wheel inspired multi level math and science worksheet, coloring sheets, and more! (Rumor has it that if you post one your finished sheets to the National Harbor Facebook Page, you will be entered to win free tickets to The Capital Wheel.)

Year-round, The Capital Wheel hosts school and scout groups every month! Find out more info here

Let’s move onto our next subject: Art.

National Harbor has over 20 pieces of art around the property for you to enjoy. Experience the Art Collection at National Harbor by texting ACNH to 56512. An interactive guide will help bring the art to life. There are also pictures and descriptions here.

National Harbor has partnered with Prince George County Arts and Humanities Council to bring a lunch time art series to you in the comfort of your own home every Tuesday and Thursday at noon. Join us as we showcase local artists who share inspiring virtual performances, art demonstrations, and discussions about artistic expression. Lunchbreaks can be accessed via Facebook on the PGAHC or National Harbor page for Thursday Watch Parties. Episodes can also be found on Instagram TV @PGAHC .

Muse Paintbar is also offering some free paint by video  on their website! So grab a paint brush and some paper and get your creative expression on!

Next up….History with our good friends at Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon has a whole page dedicated to student learning. You can learn the history of George Washington, details about the constitution, coloring pages, key facts and more here.

If you have never been to Mount Vernon you can also enjoy a virtual tour

Acokeek Foundation has been doing an exceptional job putting out content on a weekly basis to showcase their new baby animals, horticulture, agro science, zen moments and more!
