Kids Day on the Plaza every Tuesday from June 2 through August 25
NATIONAL HARBOR, Md., May 27, 2026—National Harbor celebrates summer for children and families with a free Kids Day on the Plaza
every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the waterfront plaza stage (150 National Plaza.) The fun and adventure takes place every Tuesday morning beginning June 2 and continues through August 25. Enjoy summer sunshine and cool river breezes along with a rotation of family-friendly activities on the waterfront plaza and beneath the Capital Canopy (close to the waterfront plaza stage). The event is rain or shine. Capital Canopy provides shade on hot days and cover if there’s rain.
WHUT - Howard University Television will host select Tuesdays (June 9 and 23, July 7 and 21 and August 4 and 18) with a community engagement series bringing families together through fun and educational experiences rooted in PBS KIDS content. This year’s theme is Retro PBS KIDS. It will blend iconic series with exciting new faces sparking cross-generational conversations and creating family memories. From hands-on activities to inspiring stories, this season celebrates curiosity, creativity and connections. Here are the PBS weeks and their themes:
June 9: STEAM, a special screening of “Lyla in the Loop”
June 23: Nature, a special screening of “Wild Kratts”, American Animals Collection
July 7: Let’s get LIT. “Reading Rainbow”, Read-a-thon and book giveaway. Guest readers.
July 21: Literacy, “Super Why!” , making story puppets. Sidewalk chalk.
Aug. 4: Computational thinking, “Work It Out Wombats”.
Aug. 18: Be My Neighbor Day. An opportunity to meet the people in your neighborhood including a police officer, pharmacists, chef, artist, and more.
Activities on other weeks include:
June 2: Prince George’s County Memorial Library System presents a morning of interactive story time, singing, dancing and more.
June 16: Meet and greet with the Prince George’s County Police Department and
Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department.
June 30: Mount Vernon presents Foundations of Music, an interactive music presentation highlighting the diverse musical traditions of America. From the colonial battlefield to George Washington’s own parlor, learn about music that shaped America’s ear.
July 14: Prince George’s County Arts & Humanities Council will explore National Harbor’s newest public art—Wildlife Wonder Boat and its powerful connection to wildlife through a coloring book created by the sculpture’s artists. Participants will journey into the world of endangered species and learn animal facts. The program will inspire curiosity and empower positive action for wildlife.
July 28: Teen Ensemble Performance, The Case of the Vanishing Vase. Participants will be provided with a mystery and clues to try to solve the musical case of the vanishing vase.
Aug. 11: Embassy of Australia presents a didgeridoo workshop in celebration of the Wildlife Wonder Boat at National Harbor by Australian artists, the instrument is one of the oldest in the world. Participants will learn the history of the instrument, how it is made, how it is played and the stories it can tell.
Aug. 25: Prince George’s County Memorial Library System presents a morning of interactive story time, singing, dancing and more.
The Capital Wheel features a special “Kids Day” free kid’s ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket on Kids Days so parents can extend the fun of the morning’s activities.
“Tuesday mornings at National Harbor have been designed to entertain and educate area children and families while providing interactive and fun experiences,” explained Deborah Topcik, senior director of marketing at National Harbor. “Kid’s Day is another way that National Harbor supports our community.”
Other activities for families at National Harbor (there’s a cost for these) include Muse Paint Bar, open to all ages, escape room fun at Escapology with themed room and birthday packages. Adults ride free with a paid child ticket on the Americana-themed Spirit Park Carousel. Everyone will have a blast as the rides are unlimited for the day.
Movies on the Potomac
features free family-friendly movies on the waterfront plaza each Sunday at 6 p.m. through September 27.
