October River Cleanup with Potomac Riverkeeper Network

Come get your feet wet and hands dirty to help keep the Potomac trash-free!

About this Event

Help Us Keep the Potomac Trash-Free, Join us at National Harbor!

Clean-ups will be held every second Saturday of the month from April to October at National Harbor. These events are basic to our mission of enhancing public use and enjoyment of local rivers. National Harbor is a fantastic PRKN supporter, so we are thrilled to give back to this community asset.

Please join PRKN staff for a fun and productive morning on the beautiful Potomac. Gloves and bags will be provided. We will meet at the Carousel at National Harbor (not far from the Capital Wheel, GPS Coordinates are 38.7862097, -77.0164488). All volunteers will receive vouchers for complimentary parking in any of the National Harbor Garages or Carousel Lot (excluding the Gaylord Hotel and street meters), courtesy of our friends at National Harbor.

Participants should bring drinking water and wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Volunteers must complete a safety waiver and we encourage folks to do this in advance. Please bring a signed waiver to the event; waivers can be downloaded here. Sign in starts at 8:30am at the National Harbor Carousel Lot. Hope to see you out on the river!

***Update regarding social distancing***

Following the orders from the governors of Maryland and Virginia and the CDC, we will be following safe social distancing practices at our river cleanup events. We are extending the registration time for our cleanups to be one hour long, starting 30 minutes before the scheduled event start time to prevent overcrowding at the registration table. Masks must be worn at the registration table. We will be taking steps to minimize contact thoughout the event. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.
