The Paddle Club is the first and only pontoon pedal boat or “Cycleboat” in the nation’s capital! This social, active adventure is the perfect way for friends, families, tourists, and colleagues to hop between waterfront locations and take in the sights of some of Washington DC’s most monumental attractions.
Passengers sit on comfortable bike seats that belly up to a 10-person mahogany bar as they pedal downriver at their own pace. Whether you’re a spinning sensation, a causal cyclist, or have never before ridden a bike, anyone can enjoy a Cycleboat ride. The whole boat works together in tandem to turn the paddlewheel as our expert captain navigates the boat down the Potomac River (don’t worry though – we also have a motor on board to help out or even take over as needed so you don’t HAVE to pedal). There are 10 cycle stations on board and the boat is equipped for up to 16 passengers, so not everyone has to pedal at once. The front of the boat also has a furnished lounge area so some group members can lounge or stand while their comrades power the journey. Loungers and pedalers can switch places at any time!
All Cycleboat tours are BYOB so that passengers are empowered to sip and set sail with their drink(s) of choice (the only exception is hard liquor – sorry!). While we don’t allow hard liquor on board (our license is for beer & wine only), we HAVE received authorization to serve canned cocktails like those made by local distiller, Waterbird Spirits! From Tequila Margaritas to a Vodka Citrus Squeeze and many more, there is no better beverage to Wet Your Beak with for some fun in the sun this summer. Head on over to Total Wine in Ballston or any VA Wawa to grab some before your cruise! To keep those beverages cold, we are asking that passengers bring their own coolers at this time to limit contact points between groups throughout the day. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope to be able to provide the coolers and ice again later on this season! Roughly 40 minutes into our cruise, we make a pitstop at Columbia Island Marina for a 5-10 minute bathroom break before circling back to Georgetown. From May through September, Island Time Bar & Grille at the marina will be open so if you want to take a quick shot at the bar before hopping back on board, they will be happy to oblige!
During each 90-minute tour out of Washington Harbour in Georgetown, we’ll cruise past some of DC’s most iconic attractions. Passengers will enjoy breathtaking views of the Watergate Hotel, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and even the Pentagon in Arlington. We set sail out of Washington Harbour in Georgetown, cruise down past the monuments, and then pull into Columbia Island Marina across from the Pentagon for a midway pit stop. Passengers will have 5-10 minutes to use the restroom, grab a drink or snack, and then hop back aboard to return to Georgetown.
We are thrilled to have also begun offering 2.5 hour Old Town Alexandria Cruises out of the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront on select Fridays throughout the summer! We set sail from B Dock in Alexandria and cruise down to National Harbor. At National Harbor, we take a 30-minute stop to use the restroom and grab a drink or a bite to eat from one of the many establishments on the waterfront. We then hop back aboard and cruise back to Old Town.
